There are typically three main types of cloud security services:
1. Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB): CASBs are on-premises, or cloud-based security policy enforcement points that are placed between cloud service consumers and cloud service providers to combine and interject enterprise security policies as the cloud-based resources are accessed.
2. Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM): CSPM is a set of security tools that help admins manage the security posture of their cloud environments. This includes identifying misconfigurations, compliance issues, and other risks.
3. Cloud Workload Protection Platform (CWPP): CWPP offers security solutions specifically designed to protect the unique configurations of cloud computing workloads.
Each type of cloud security service serves a specific purpose in securing cloud environments, whether it’s controlling access, monitoring and managing security configurations, or protecting the workloads themselves.
